Thursday September 23 Day 3

Today we discussed the issue of Silly Bands, and in our Journals we wrote whether or not we think Sily Bands should be allowed at school.   We are focusing on indenting the first sentence, and stating your opinion in the first sentence.   Making sure a capital letter begins the sentence, and you have an end mark are also a key things to think about today.

We did Drama/DPA with Ms. Leung and she reported that participation was a little improved from last week.

Today Grade 2 students looked at counting objects by putting them into groups of ten.  Then recording the  number of tens and ones.   We then added single-digit numbers and looked at grouping tens and ones.
e.g.   9+7= 1 ten and 6 ones = 16.   Grade 3's did a review sheet on patterning and began to describe the pattern rule.

We continued to work on acrostic poems and did our Literacy activities.

We read two more chapters of our story.   After being in the ocean for 297 days, Eduard was found by a fisherman, Lawrence, and he took him home to his wife, Nellie.   She wanted to clean Eduard up, and many students were shocked to hear that they decided to call Eduard "Susanna" and are going to make him a dress! Many students had made text-to-self connections about being mistaken for a different gender and how they felt about that.
