Today in Math we worked in four different groups. Some worked on making animals using base-ten cut outs and then had to find the value of the animal they made. One group practiced some adding and subtracting, one group worked on creating regular 2D shapes using popsicle sticks and the final group worked on creating name patterns on a 5x5 grid.
We started to talk about "media literacy". We discussed that media is how messages are sent to people using printed word, images and sound. We brainstormed a list of different media that we use e.g.) computers, MP3 players, radios, newspapers, magazines, game devices etc. They were then asked to draw themselves using 3 different forms of media at home and to state whether the media uses print, images, sound or a combination.
After Lunch we worked on Spelling Lesson 3 pg. 12 and 13. If incomplete it was sent for homework.
If your child does not have homework they have completed it either in class, or at home last night!
Last period we had a class discussion about lining up as it continues to be a bit of an issue for the class.
We used the remaining time to complete our
MEdia pictures.
HOMEWORK: Spelling #3 pg. 12 and 13 only. (Students had 40min in class today to work on this)
Note: Several students are finding the Spelling challenging so I will adjust workload to meet the individual needs. e.g.) reduced number of pages, different activites than in textbook.
